Privacy and Security

Privacy and security are big concerns these days. We assume they are very important to you. They are very important to us as well!

As you browse our website and add items to your cart, you are safe and security is not an issue because no exchange of personal information takes place until you "Check Out." At that point, you are transferred to a secure page of our shopping cart.

Shopping Cart - Our shopping cart is provided by Virtual Cart which is protected by McAfee and secured by GoDaddy.com which issues them a Secure Socket Layer ( SSL) Certificate. That means that sensitive information being exchanged via the web site is encrypted so that it cannot be intercepted and read by anyone other than the intended recipient. You will know you are on a secure page when during "Check Out", you come to the page requesting your credit card information and notice that the address bar says, "https://..." instead of "http://...". The "s" indicates that the page is secure.

Your order is emailed securely to us from Virtual Cart with your credit card number stripped from it. We therefore have to go to Virtual Cart's password protected server to get your credit card information. We do not keep a copy of your credit card number at our location.

When we ship your order, we provide UPS and USPS with your email address so that they can send you a tracking number. We also provide UPS with your phone number in case they need to call you about your delivery. We, as well as UPS and USPS do not sell, rent or give your name, address, phone number or email address to outside parties. See more information about the UPS Privacy Policy and USPS Privacy Policy.

If you feel safer viewing our website on a secure server, Aplus.net provides one here.

"WHAT IS AN SSL CERTIFICATE?
An SSL Certificate is a digital computer file (or small piece of code) that has
two specific functions:
1. Authentication and Verification: The SSL Certificate has information about
the authenticity of certain details regarding the identity of a person, business
or web site, which it will display to visitors on your web site when they click
on the browser's padlock symbol or trust mark (e.g., the VeriSign seal).
The vetting criteria used to determine if an SSL Certificate should be issued
is most stringent with an Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate; making
it the most trusted SSL Certificate available.
2. Data Encryption: The SSL Certificate also enables encryption, which means
that the sensitive information exchanged via the web site cannot be intercepted
and read by anyone other than the intended recipient." (taken from verisign.com)
